Hour glass appearing every 7-8 seconds

When in Word 2003, cursor is changing to an hour glass every 7-8 seconds or
so. This is happening even when I am not typing. I also notice while in
Outlook 2003 the screen seems to refresh every 7-8 seconds or so. Thank you.

Somehow I don't think you're going to get an answer any faster by asking
four times than by asking once. You need to look at the processes that are
running on your computer and find out which one kicks in and consumes 100%
CPU every eight seconds.

We looked at all the processes running already. The only thing that's running
is system processes ( explorer, taskmgr, winword, system idle and csrss).

Click on the CPU column: this will sort the running processes in order of
processing power they are using. One of then should be popping up every 7/8
seconds coinciding with the hour glass appearance in Word. Which process is
it?
