Hours prepopulated on timesheet

We are on PS2007, SP1, IU, Dec cummulative updates.

Since applying IU update and Dec cummulative updates a few weeks ago, we are
noticing that some resources have hours pre populated on timesheet with
planned hours, while others do not.

We don't want this happening, and it wasn't happening before. We also added
a web part to hide Planned Hours on timesheets.

Any thoughts on why this might be happening?

My guess is that this was happening before the IU update and Dec cumulative
updates and you just didn't notice it.

The reason it is showing up on some users timesheets and not others is
because the tasks that they are working on have either been marked as
complete into the future or not marked as complete into the future.

The timesheet creation at the task level will bring over both the day by day
planned hours as well as the actual hours from the schedule.

So if your PM has marked tasks complete into the future, any resource that
has work scheduled for that task will see actuals when they create their
timesheets. I am not aware of any hotfix for this, it is considered by
design. You would have force actuals from timesheets and incorporate My
Tasks updates as well in order to avoid this.

Ahh, I beleive your guess is correct and it wasn't noticed before. I'm sure
the PMs on the projects that are pre populating recently forced some tasks to
complete. I will discuss with them and see how they want to handle going
forward.
