Hover Button Issue

Newbie here with a hover button problem. FP 2002. The
hover buttons I created show up in the normal view but
when I check preview they are there but just as plain
boxes with a funny looking symbol in the left corner.
Any Help?

What happens when you check them in File | Preview in Browser?

Hi Tom,
Thanks for replying. The hover buttons are plain white
boxes with little x's in the corners when I preview them
in a browser.
