Hover Buttons Don't Display

On my desktop when I display my webpage built with Frontpage the hover
buttons display as small rectangles with a small red x. On other
computers they appear and work fine. I have concluded there must be
something missing in my Internet Explorer browser. I have downloaded
and installed the latest version of Internet Explorer and the problem
continues. Any ideas what else I might try?

Microsoft no longer includes the Java Virtual Machine under Windows XP or IE.
