Hover Buttons Inconsistent

D

Don

I decided to try hover buttons (web components) as links on my home page.

When I scroll down they appear "broken" or not clear. There seems to be a
"movement" in the structure if I scroll up and down and sometimes when the
page initially loads.

Refreshing sometimes causes poor results.

Any idea what is causing this and how to possibly correct it. Thanks

Would it be recomended not to use hover buttons because of the possibility of
incompatibility with many browsers?

If this is the case what might be used, offered on FrontPage, to have a
button feature/link without similar issues the hover button has.

Thank You,

Don

Yes, hover buttons are no longer used by most designers because Java is
no longer commonly available. I've had good results by using FP's DHTML
swap picture feature to get similar effects.

Sorry to seem like a dunce.

I am not sure about the "swap picture" feature. I am using FP 2002. I'm
actually surprised FP doesn't offer a menu bar feature. Ugh!

I have search for decent buttons and found one site to purchase software to
create what I'm looking for. $89 for a small section of my site. Not cost
efficient.

Craig is referring to features in FP 2003.

Why don't we start with you telling us exactly what you're trying to
accomplish? Then we can be more helpful to you.

BTW, I used crystal buttons (www.crystalbutton.com) to make custom
buttons and was quite pleased with the results. 30 bucks.

Actually it does.

Turn on the DHTML menu bar from View menu if it is not visible.

FP2002 has the rollover DHTML effects (image swaps), is that what craig was
talking about? It is a matter of placing your "normal" button on the page,
then select it, then go to rollover - images - select the "mouseover"
version of the image click OK and you're done.

On the other hand there's plenty of "image swap" scripts on the net.
