How are you using OneNote 2007?

Wanted to get some ideas to improve my use of OneNote 2007 and get full use
out of the program.

Here is my contribution to the list.

I have been using OneNote as:
1. A dumping ground for my research.

- just gotta love that IE send to OneNote Icon in the toolbar!!! Have been
using that a lot.
- Also sending from Word docs and PDFs via Print/send to OneNote printer

2. A holding pool for info and ideas to come to later

- Using Note Flags to mark for follow up

3. A way to organize all that orphaned info that hovers in my mind and on my
hard drives begging to be dealt with.

- Am spending a lot of time going through my drives and copying / pasting
/dragging / dropping / etc. into OneNote.

It refreshing, like finally cleaning out a really cluttered basement or attic.

Note here: Am not using embedding files - "insert a copy onto this page" -
just going into my OneNote folders and manually creating a subfolder - then
placing the files I want to keep in OneNote into that subfolder and dragging
onto the page and creating a link to the file. MS has warned for now not to
insert copy / embed files. creates a lot of copies and other hassles (

4. A place to keep my emails that have info I want to use elsewhere or other
important info I want to keep.

- just use Send to OneNote button on toolbar in Outlook 2007

Well I'll let it end there to give others a chance to add to the list.

I can really say that OneNote is really doing a vital job for me and I am
really liking it!

Thanks
Cynthia

I take class notes with ON. I prepare the classes I teach in ON. All my
research is dumped into it. I print papers to ON so that I can annotate
them in there. I write my blog in ON and then publish it via Word. I
print documents I want to retain to ON (all those please print for your
reference webpages e.g.). Important notes, etc.

Using the tablet?
Handwritten then?
I'm using the Cornell Note-taking Method template and I really like it.
But I need to change the lines on the background as my notes are more
extensive per page. I have to learn how to do that.
I prepare the classes I teach in ON.
What does that entail? Do you use a template?

Is this on the tablet or desktop - are you using handwriting for annotations?

I don't have a tablet and handwriting installed.
I would like to know more about that.
I tried OneNote 2003 and the included notebook on OneNote described how you
can convert Handwriting to typed text.

I have a Wacom and have used a pen/tablet for the last decade, so if I could
get handwriting recognition on my laptop, that would really be fun to try!
I write my blog in ON and then publish it via Word.
So you're not using the OneNote Blog this?
How does that work anyway?
I try it and nothing happens. Where do I find more info on that?
print documents I want to retain to ON (all those please print for your

So you use the Print to OneNote from the File/Print in the document program?

Thanks so much for your input

Yep to both.

No templates, just College Ruled rule lines.
What does that entail? Do you use a template?
Outline of what I want to do, PPTs and other files I will use. No
template.

Both computers and so handwriting or not for annotations.
I tried OneNote 2003 and the included notebook on OneNote described how you
can convert Handwriting to typed text.
I hardly ever do that. My tablet is a really good replacement for a
physical notebook. I just keep my notes in handwriting.

Check Chris Pratley's blog. He explains how to make it work there. The
feature sends whatever you want to blog to Word 2007 and then you use
Word to publish it.
So you use the Print to OneNote from the File/Print in the document program?
Yes.

I am using OneNote mobile to gather notes and information on the move (using
camera etc) and then managing them in onenote. I am truely addicted.
