Hi Larry,
When you install Office 2003 change the default installation path and
you will be prompted to keep the previous versions. As for running
more than one version of Office on the same drive, this really depends
on what you are doing. If you are developing for others using a
previous version then you should install on separate drives or use a
dual boot, as Bob recommended, so shared components/resources are not
replaced with newer versions.
If they are installed on the same drive you can only have one version
of Outlook installed and you could encounter minor nuisances from time
to time. For example if you are installing a patch you may need to
start the application to be patched so it can register itself as the
current version. Or if you are switching versions of Word the Windows
Installer will surface in order to reinstall the correct components
and recreate various Registry entries.
I have several versions of Office installed on the same drive and have
yet to encounter any major complications. However when it comes to
developing I'm also aware of what I need to watch/check so the app
will run on correctly on a previous version.
