How can %Complete > 0 if no resource/timesheet

Bob Schroen

In a server environment using managed time periods, how is it possible that
the %Complete has a value when no one has changed the value nor has anyone
reported actual time via timesheets?

Every time I try to remove the values at some point in time the come back
when the project syncs to actuals.

Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like there may be bad data in the project record. Some of the
things that I've seen cause this is user error and the practice of
enterprise project plan cloning. You may need to republish these tasks
overwriting actual work in the timesheets while managed periods are
suspended to synch the data.

Suspend Managed Time Periods

1. Open the project in question and select the tasks
2. Select Collaborate > Publish > Republish Assignments
3. At the top of the dialog, click the "Republish assignments for" pick
list and choose the "Selected items" option
4. Select the "Overwrite actual work entered by resources" option at the
bottom of the dialog
5. Click the OK button

Resume Managed Time Periods

Thanks for the suggestion but I believe I have done this before however I
will do it again as per instructions.
- In the past instead overwriting actualls for selected items I did it for
the entire project, does it make a difference?

- what do you mean by "enterprise project plan cloning"?

Thanks again - Bob

I have a simiar problem I think. How do you suspend managed time period then
resume managed time periods? Is it Admin>Customized Web Access> Tracking
Settings? I hate to ask a dumb question but I want to be sure that we can
turn on and then back on managed time sheets during project.

Question is, do you have a task assigned to a resource and published to the
server? If so, the Server becomes the BOSS, and will not allow you to change
info on the plan...only the team member can.

If the team member has not entered ANY time, did they change the Remaining
Time? If so, they could have made the amount of work less...though not put
actuals, ...but this still shouldn't make the % complete changed, just the
amount of work required on the plan itself. Sounds like someone entered time,
but has not updated it via the PM's Update area.
