How can I activate the Reading Pane. It's gray on the view menu

The reading pane might have got disabled.

Can you please go to Help Menu --> Abount Microsoft Outlook --> Disabled
Items and check if the Reading Pane is listed there. If it is, enable it.

Also, if you trying to view the reading pane for the Drafts folder, it is
not possible.
