How can I blur an autoshape?

Hello friends,

I'd like to use an oval autoshape superimposed on a picture but I'd like to
blur the edges of the oval. Any ideas? F.Y.I I'm trying to create my own
laser / light saber effect to be used later on within movie maker.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

There's no way you'll get that effect with the tools in Word.

Try the editor in SnagIt (www.techsmith.com). There's a free 30-day
trial download.

Well... not in Word 2007. Word 2010's Shape Effects - Soft Edges comes
pretty close, though.
