How can I bring Contacts from OE to Outlook 2007?

I was helping a friend move files from an old XP machine to a new XP
machine. He wanted to change from using Outlook Express to Outlook 2007. I
copied the OE data storage files from the old to the new PC, opened OE and
changed the storage to this temp location, then using info I found on the
internet went into Import and Export in Outlook 2007 and selected "Import
Internet Mail and Addresses", "Outlook Express", "Import Mail" which pulled
in his emails.
Then I selected Import and Export again as instructed, "Import Internet
Email Account Settings" but it said there wasn't any Internet mail.
Since his account wasn't set up I had to do that manually. I tested sending
and receiving mail then realized the Contacts were not there in Outlook. I
tried to run the import again but cancelled it when it looked as though it
was importing the same emails again so he would have had duplicates.
So then I went to OE and exported the address book into a WAB file, but
Outlook won't import that.

How can I bring his Contacts from OE to Outlook 2007?

Always export the messages from OE to Outlook. The received date usually
gets changed to the date of import if you import form OE using Outlook.

The messages came through OK when I imported from the the OE data files -
the contacts didn't come through though. As far as I recall (a few days ago
now) the messages had the correct dates.
