How can I capture (import) a screen shot into word

D

I have two monitors. On one I had an image On the other screen had Word
running and I was trying to type in a description of this image. My fingers
slipped on the lower keyboard as I was typing...suddenly, a screen shot of
the desktop appeared in my word document (just what I wanted).
BUt I can't find ANYTHING in help to tell me what keystrokes I accidently hit
to accomplish this.
I did help search for capture desktop. Capture screen shot. Screen shot.
Etc etc....Nothing.
Any ideas?

The Print Scrn key will copy an image of the screen to the clipboard, then
Ctrl+V would have pasted it into your document

....and if you want just the current window, use Alt+PrintScreen. And, for
even more options and control, consider getting something like SnagIt.

THANK YOU!!! I'll bet it was the ctrl+V that my fingers accidently tripped
over.
I appreciate the fast response!

Thank you, too, Herb.
So alt+printscreen for current window ....and printscreen for the entire
desktop.
Ctrl+V to paste.
Easy enough.
Never heard of SnagIt. I'll look into it.
