How can I change default appointment duration?

I set all my appointments (which are just staff reminders actually) to zero duration. The default in Entourage is 30 mins so I must change it every time. Is there any way, by a terminal command or whatever, to change this to zero? (Please understand that I am NOT referring to the snooze time.)

Thanks, John

John,

Entourage menu / Preferences / Calendar
Reminders section
Set default reminder to occur ... 0 ... minutes

Thanks, but in spite of my best efforts, I am being misunderstood. You mention the reminder, I mean the appointment "duration" i.e. an appointment that starts at 10:15 will automatically appear as ending at 10:45. I want it to end at 10:15! There is nothing in any pf the preferences to cover this, it needs a hack. Reminders and snoozes are covered but not altering the "duration".

John,

I re-read your post and that you want the default duration of a new
appointment to be set to 0 rather than 30. The default duration can't be
changed in Entourage. The duration can't be changed to 0 in Outlook either
although it could be changed to as low as 5 minutes with the unintended
consequences that the calendar in Outlook gets subdivided into 5 minute
intervals <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/198087>.

Your best possibility is to use an applescript that is designed to create a
calendar event with a 0 duration when the script is invoked. That would
involve finding one that does that or write it yourself either way
somewhat a chore

See:

http://www.entourage.mvps.org/script/fav_scripts.html

or

http://scriptbuilders.net/

From a quick search, it looks like you will have write a script yourself or
convince one of the script experts to come up with the script code.

Thanks, but in spite of my best efforts, I am being misunderstood. You

So, what happens at 10:15? Is the time important or are you just trying
to put notes on your calendar?

You can put all day events with a status of "Free" onto your calendar
and these will appear at the top of the calendar instead.
