Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I've checked preferences and view and didn't find anything to remedy the situation. I notice that Pages opens center screen. Thank you.
In order to show up in middle of screen first move window so top left corner
is at top left corner of desktop. Next click on drag corner and move to lower
right corner. next click on the green stop light button at top left.
then click again. Then shut down Word the document should be centered unless
you have documented zoomed in where it extends of the screen. Then you have to
adjust the bottom slider to move document to center

Try this instead: http://www.phillipmjones.net/Microsoft_Wordpicture001.png
I have set at two hundred percent but if you set back at 100% with still
be in same position.
see here I've set back to 100% still centered:

You have to drag the window to proper place. the drag the size box to
proper place then click the green stop light button at top twice then
save the document or save a Dummy file and then quit word. and let it
save to Normal Template. I could have clicked to 50% and would show the
same thing.
Now if your talking about the position in the document you were in at
the last time you did anything to document , That is something else.

No, she wants the Word window to occupy 50% of the screen width, but not the
top left corner
She wants the window to open "somewhere else" on the monitor.
Word won't do it.
Cheers
