How can I change my Word docs default to open center screen?

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I've checked preferences and view and didn't find anything to remedy the situation. I notice that Pages opens center screen. Thank you.

In order to show up in middle of screen first move window so top left corner is at top left corner of desktop. Next click on drag corner and move to lower right corner. next click on the green stop light button at top left.
then click again. Then shut down Word the document should be centered unless you have documented zoomed in where it extends of the screen. Then you have to adjust the bottom slider to move document to center

H Phillip:

What version of Word are you using? That does not appear to work in Word
2008.

Word will remember a Zoom setting, but not a window position.

Cheers

I have done what you suggest but, unless I'm missing something, it still leaves my menus and tool bars flush left while the window does move to center. So I've just been dragging the whole window to center to work but was wondering if there was a permanent solution. All Mac apps open dead center. Thank you just the same.

I am using Word for Mac 2008. All Mac apps open dead center but Word opens flush left. I'm been dragging the window to center when I work in Word but was hoping there was a permanent fix. This seems like such a simple thing to fix with all Mac's sophistication. . . The zoom fix doesn't work for me. Thank you.

I use both 2004v and 2008 set zoom to 200%.
Drag window to position as previously described.

Now save as a Dummy file. Type something and then remove it. Save the dummy file. Allow it to save changes to Normal. Close Word. Throw dummy file away.

Now open word. From now on it with file the the screen and be centered. I've had mine set that way for years.

Phillip:

That's not what she wants :)

She wants 100% AND centred. Word 2008 will not remember the "centred" bit
:) It's a design issue: Word is not designed to remember its window
position, and it can't.

Cheers

I have set at two hundred percent but if you set back at 100% with still
be in same position.
see here I've set back to 100% still centered:

You have to drag the window to proper place. the drag the size box to
proper place then click the green stop light button at top twice then
save the document or save a Dummy file and then quit word. and let it
save to Normal Template. I could have clicked to 50% and would show the
same thing.

Now if your talking about the position in the document you were in at
the last time you did anything to document , That is something else.

Hi Phillip:

No, she wants the Word window to occupy 50% of the screen width, but not the
top left corner :)

She wants the window to open "somewhere else" on the monitor.

Word won't do it.

Cheers
