how can I change the default settings for text boxes?

I use word 2003. In my document I had to edit word art. I didn't know what
I was doing and in my effort to make the change I clicked on "set defaults."
Now when I inset a text box, it takes on the features I was trying to get rid
of in the word art! I finally figured out how to make the change in word
art, but I can't figure out how to get back to a plain text box without red
borders flanked by dark black borders. Help please.

Hi Crystal,
What happens if you reformat a text box back to a plain outline then
while it's still selected go to "Set AutoShape Defaults" in the "Draw"
menu?

I don't know how to reformat it to a plain outline. There seems to be some
word art format showing up -- for example a shadow box in red. how can I get
rid of that?

Format Text Box and choose the appropriate settings on the Colors and Lines
tab. When you have it the way you want it, right-click and choose Set
AutoShape Defaults.
