How can I change the default settings of an intranet hyperlink?

I am trying to insert a file as a hyperlink in Outlook 2003, but the
recipients are only receiving a text version. I understand that the name of
the file is incorrect. However, I am trying to determine how to change the
default settings to set the hyperlink correctly. Is there an option to make
these changes?

Little known trick... to insert a file as a hyperlink and have it always
work (with spaces and everthing)
Go to Insert | Hyperlink menu and type out the path so that it looks like
this:
file:///\\someserver\someshare\somefolder\somefile.doc

The file:/// is important.
