How can I "Clean Up" an excel file?

P

Phil

Hello,

I have a file that has been giving me a lot of grief, meaning that it is
causing problems in Access after importing (from Excel), when I'm trying to
save it as an Access file.

What I'd like to know is if there is a way to "Clean Up" by removing ALL of
the formatting (I know for a fact the individual that I got this file from
likes to do a lot of fancy formatting) either by saving as a another file
type (which I'd like your recomendation) or some other means.

TIA for your replies.

Phil.

Hi Phil,

There are several approaches to your problem.

I would be tempted to create a new workbook and copy the data across the
following way (needs to be repeated for each worksheet):
- Hit Ctrl + A to select all cells, then Ctrl + C to copy them
- Select your new workbook, and then Select Edit, Paste Special... from the
menu.
- In the Paste Special dialog, select Values and Click OK.
- This should paste all the data and leave behine all the formatting.

When you have completed this for all worksheets, save your new workbook and
try importing that into Access instead.

Hope this helps,

Mark
