How can I compare and update orgcharts in visio 03 automatically?

I have a newer and an older version of an organisation chart. I now want to
compare these charts with each other AND update the older version with the
new information (as I have a special format and font in the older version, I
want the older version to be updated) - I use Microsoft Visio 2003.
many thanks

Orgcharts are drawings created via additional code that can and does change
between versions. I don't believe there is a standard mechanism to compare
just the data contents. I'd suggest that you might be able to save them both
as xml and do a compare via that way. You didn't say if the earlier version
was also created with v2003, but in either case the updated information will
have to be put in using the same version of visio that created it.

Many thanks for your help. the older org chart was created with visio 2002.
There I could not only compare an older with a newer org chart but also take
over the changes into the newer org chart by choosing update. It seems that
this is not possible in visio 2003 anymore. The changes of each position are
not really interesting me, rather than taking over the changes in my older
org chart. There I put in some additional information to every position,
which would take me hours to update in every new chart I create. I want to
try to automatise the creation of org charts.

You can also export both charts into Excel and manipulate your information
there, then re-create a totally new chart using the import wizard. We update
355 entries monthly and it takes less than 5 minutes to create a 15 page org
chart by cost center. It take another 20 minutes to spruce up the drawing for
printing and it’s done.
