How can I complete an unsuccessful download of Office 2000 servic.

After a Blue Screen of Death experience, I had to reinstall my operating
system (Windows 2000), and then one by one, install various programs that
were no longer functioning. Office 2000 got messed up, and each time I
attempt to launch Word, a window appears, looking for a Windows Installer to
launch it with. It eventually opens and looks/works fine, but won't launch
normally. The Windows Office update scan recommended downloading the Service
Pack 3. When I get to the last step in the process, it fails to completely
download and install. How do I get around this? I inserted the original
Office 2000 disc when prompted during the update, but to no avail. I'm unable
to update with the Service Pack 3.

Thanks for trying to help me garfield. unfotunately, i'm not even able to
install the first download as instructed below. The window "Windows
Installer" launches, and it's unable to find itself in order to execute the
command. It gives me an error message telling me to contact my administrator.
Nothing seems to install without that Windows Installer window starting the
process, but it won't go beyond the "preparing to install" phase and just
quits. I downloaded the exe, I just can't install it. Any other suggestions?
It seems this Windows Installer is needed to install anything, and it must be
corrupt.

Dear Garfield,

I've struck out again. That page takes me to a page that's "unavailable" on
the microsoft website. Can you write me directly? (e-mail address removed)?

It loads find for me here in Sacramento. Try it again, it may have just been
a hiccup.
