How can I control the size of window / page in Word?

Hi. When I open a document in word 2003 in normal or print layout, it
is huge on my computer screen. The margins extend beyond the side of
the window. I want to make the page, and the ruler at the top, all
smaller so it will fit the space.

Can this be controlled? I searched the help for window size, page size,
etc etc with no luck.
