How can I convert Outlook 2003 .ost to a .pst (need for data rec.

My laptop crashed. I had copied .ost to my personal PC about a week prior.
I would like to be able to open the .ost on my personal PC. Both were using
Outlook 2003. laptop had exchange server. Personal PC was POP3. I think I
need to convert .ost to .pst. Unfortuantely, I can not find a reasonable way
to do this. It appears that there is $600 software that could do it.

My calendar and contacts are most important info.

Many Thanx!

The .OST is just a local cache of your Exchange mailbox. If you had
synchronized your Outlook relatively recently you shouldn't need to
recover your .OST. Just reconnect to your Exchange Server and it should
recreate your .OST for you.

Hi Ben,
Thank You for your time and inight.

Unfortunately my challenge is that I wil not be able to connect to my
Exchange server for at least a week. It is on my work VPN which requires me
to receive a new provisioned laptop to access VPN and then the Exchange
server.

Laptop hard drive was showing signs of failure earlier in the week so I
backed up .OST and .PST to my PC. I can access the .PST, but not .OST which
contains the more recent and important information.

I really need to be able to access the .OST. I just guessed that it would
require a conversion to .PST.

Thanx in advance for any help

In that case the third-party converter is your best hope.

If your OST file name and mail profile name match, then you should be able
to use the "Work Offline" function of Outlook to access the OST. You can
then create a new PST and copy the OST's contents to it.
