How can I copy contacts between folders?

I saw on another link that to move contacts between folders you could just
drag and drop them. That works but then it isn't in the original folder
anymore. Is there a way to copy them between folders without losing them in
the original one?

All I can seem to find is to forward them as VCards and that can be really
time consuming when you have several hundred to do. Is there any other way?
