How can I create a table of contents automatically?

How can I create a table of contents which collects all the pages and adds
the page number behind it (a standard TOC)?

Thanks for that, but I have not done any programming with Visio. Where should
I put the code in?

tools => macros => vba editor => this document, paste in the code and save
the document
open tools => macros => call the routine

kinda yes, but you have to figure out whether it is worth the work. There is
an add-in shape called "legend" that is used to keep track of shapes on a
page which does a similar functionality (i.e. is aware of document changes
and updates as appropriate). This goes beyond a simple TOC written in VBA to
something more involved. I usually just delete the toc page and recall the
macro just like I do in Word.

I'd like to create a TOC also but I don't know what all the past posts mean.
Can anyone give step by step instructions?

check John Marshall's site (visio.mvps.org), he has a couple of vba examples
on creating them.
