How can I create a template to control the contents of a word docu

In my line of work, i use one big MS Word document (300 Pages), based on teh
need each time, the final document ends up to be 30 to 40 pages only. I need
to know if there is a way I can create a template with check boxes and drop
down list, by which, the contents of the document is created based on the
choices selcted in the template. So each selection on the tempate is linked
to some tages in the word document, once finished, i click "submit", and the
result is one MS document that has only the parts I needs, with some hears I
already typed in the template. I am hoping by doing this I can spend less
time, deleting and pasting stuff from the big document to get to where I
need. Thnaks in advance
