How can I create my own wizard in Word 98?

Amy

I work with authors who provide us with content for educational
documents. I would like to use something like the resume wizard to
give them a step by step guideline in how to organize their
information. I don't think a traditional template will work, and I'm
not great at creating macros in VBE.
Is there a way to create customized wizards? Can anyone help?
Thanks

Hi Amy:

Don't try it in Mac Word. Not yet. A lot of the smarts you need did not
make it across from the PC in Word X. Particularly in the Visual Basic
Editor.

I do all of my VBA on the PC, then simply test it on the Mac. The Mac
implementation of the VBA Editor is just not up to the task. Your problems
with creating macros are not your fault: the editor's just not up to it :)

However, if we abandon the idea of a "Wizard" in favour of the other tools
that *are* available on Mac Word, I think we can get your authors a lot
closer to the mark without stretching the friendship with Mac Word.

Of course, we begin with a traditional template. Then we need to start
prompting them through. You can do a lot with FILLIN Fields: Click Here
and Type your First Heading. You can make such a field fire a little macro
that immediately adds another field each time they click away from one.

You can make a dummy outline in the template: don't be afraid to add text
they can delete if they need to. Provide a short description of how to use
Outline View and show them how to drag their headings and sections around to
put their material into order.

If you get them 80 per cent of the way, you will have made a huge
improvement.

Come back to us with specific questions and we'll be delighted to help.

Hope this helps

Thanks John!
I now have a project for next week.
If I have problems (and I *know* I will) I'll contact post them on the board.

I don't see John's response in this thread. What happened to it? It sounded
interesting.
