How can I cut a line segment?

I have a line that is made up of several segments.

I want to break the line in two pieces but when I delete one segment, the
two segments on either side are immediately joined together so that the
line remains continuous.

How can I cut a line into two pieces?

Draw a line across your line at your break point. Select both lines and use
Trim (Shape --> Operations --> Trim) This will break both lines leaving you
with four line segments.

If you use the ShapeSheet, then you can right mouse click the LineTo segment
and change the row type to MoveTo

There are a number of operations you can preform on shapes to get new
shapes. "Fragment" sounds correct and does what you asked to 2-d shapes, but
not to straight lines. In this case, "Trim" is correct, but I doubt anyone
who does not know the Visio operations would choose "Trim" as the first or
second guess.
