To add just a bit here... if I compress a file, that means I'm effectively
removing information (higher resolution) from it to make it smaller for
some purpose, e.g., to load faster in a web page. Once that file itself
has been compressed, the extra information (e.g., higher resolution) is
gone, and the file is smaller. Once the compressed file has been saved,
this compression cannot be reversed for that file. Instead, as JoAnn
points out, you would need to go back to the original uncompressed file.
If you compressed your only copy, then you're out of luck.
