How can I designate some MS project rows as not being tasks?

How can I designate some rows in MS Project as not being tasks? That is,
they have no duration, no start and no end, but I need them on my MS schedule
- for example a blank separator row, or a descriptive heading row? I can't
seem to blank out the automatic population of the duration, start and end
cells.

I also want them not to be automatically numbered in the WBS

thanks

Hi rxlaxto,

Sorry, not possible, as far as I know. If you wish to add additional
space between tasks in the Task Sheet/Gantt chart, you may manually
increase the height of a row by dragging the row number down.

As far as omitting tasks from a WBS, the only workaround would be to add
a spare text field to the table and then manually enter the numbers for
the tasks you wish to match to your financial codes.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

It's not what I wanted to hear, but thanks for confirming this point. Now
at least I know it's not a lack of knowledge on my part, but a lack of
functionality from MS Project. You'd think being able to insert lines of
headings and comments that are not part of the WBS auto-numbering without
breaking the integrity of the structure would be one of those no brainers...

ciao
