I recently downloaded word 2007 but it much to advanced for me as i am taking
a college class and would like the same version that we are using there...i
believe its either 2003 or 97...i don't know if there is a difference between

Neither Word 97 nor Word 2003 can be downloaded from anywhere, at least
not legally. I can't imagine any college teaching Word 97 anymore.
When you figure out what version you want, you might be able to buy it
from your college bookstore at a very attractive price.

You might want to consider downloading OpenOffice.org (free, open-
source software) from http://www.openoffice.org/ . I believe you will
find the user interface more like what you are used to than Word 2007.

Quite a big download, though.

I doubt that would help if the class requires that students all use the same version of Microsoft Word.

It sounded more like a requirement of the OP than of the class
