How can I enlarge fill patterns in MS word

This is a really trivial problem, but it is frustrating. I like to use the
fill pattern option in Word to put borders on some documents. The fill
pattern looks just fine on print preview, but when printed, it comes out much
smaller and is almost not recognizable at all. I have tried enlarging,
resizing, print draft, etc. and so far nothing has worked. At one time, I
could adjust my printer to do 75 dpi instead of 150 or higher and this seemed
to work. I cannot find such an option on newer printers. Does anyone have
a suggestion on how to enlarge the fill pattern size?
