In word 2003 I could use outline text and fill the text with pictures - does
anyone know how to do this using word 2007? For example, I want to create a
large outline of a 'T' and fill it with a picture of tomatoes...

You can still do this the same way in Word 2007. On the Insert tab, choose
Shapes in the Illustrations group or WordArt in the Text group. If the
latter, type T (the default Arial Black text used by WordArt style 6 is good
for this). This enables the contextual WordArt Tools, from which you can
choose Shape Fill and then Picture, or you can (as I did, not noticing the
new Ribbon) right-click on the shape to get to the old Format WordArt dialog
and choose the familar Fill Effects dialog from the Colors and Lines tab.
