How can I find my Windows Vista/Microsoft Office product key?

In 2007 I purchased a HP Pavillion Notebook with a pre installed Windows Vista.
There was a demand for the product key with a 25 caracters, which I located
on a label underneath the laptop. But it's not being accepted. What should I
do?

The key on the bottom of the laptop is, as it plainly says, the key for the
operating system, I.e., Vista. The last three HP laptop products I have
purchased (all within the last year) have not had any key included to
activate the trial version of the Office software that was included that I
could find in any of the paperwork. I don't know if they are pre-activated
or not because the first thing I do after creating my recovery disks is to
strip off Office trial and it's activation wizard. If you can't use the
trial version, contact HP for instructions.
