How can I fix the Word 2007 error message "not responding?"

I am using Word 2007 as part of Office Business 2007. I can open
Word, but when I try to save a document, or use the "find" or "find and
replace" Word hangs up and gives the message that the program is not
responding. I removed Office 2007 and then reinstalled it. However, Word
continues to show the same problems. Any ideas?

That problem is usually caused by a dead mapped drive or some invalid path
that Office is trying to find.
