how can i get my cursor to work again in microsoft word?

my cursor stopped working in microsoft word 7.0 except for in the tool bars
located at the top of the window. how do i get it to work again? right now
it is next to impossible to work with word.

Sounds like you let Windows Update run whilst you had left Word running. You
need to run Regedit and navigate to the Word Data Key and delete it. Word
will automatically recreate the key when it is next started.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\version number\Word\Data
