How can I get Photo Editor to Recognize JPEG format?

I had Office installed on my hard drive and it worked fine but the disk
crashed and I had to reinstall XP and Office XP. After I did that, my MS
Photo Editor could no longer open basic graphic files such as JPEG, saying
that the file format was unrecognized. I deleted all of Office XP and
reinstalled but had the same problem. I went into the installation program
and made sure that everything was checked under Office Shared Feature >
Converters and Filters > Graphics Filters, including JPEG. Any suggestions?

I don't know aboutr Office 2003 but in Office 2000:
Insert the Ofice CD disc, keep clicking until you get to Customise, Select
it, then keep going to Office Tools then select ' MS Photo Editor'
It mw be the same procedure for Office 2003. But I dunno

This tells me how to install or reinstall the program. I've indicated in my
original post that I've already done that. But it doesn't solve the problem.

And it's Office XP.
