How can I get Project to remove blank fields when I print a report

I print a resource usage report for all resources. I set the date range for a
single work week. If Mike was a resource on 20 tasks but he only worked on 2
tasks during the week that I am printing the report for, how can I get
Project to only list the two resources he actually worked on that week as
opposed to it listing every task he was assigned to. I want those blank tasks
to be hidden when I print.

Suliman,
The printout you want could be fairly simple or it could be a little
more complex. You mention that you only want to see those assignments
that the resource actually worked on. That implies a review of the
Actual Work field which may or may not track with scheduled work.

In the simple case, a filter that covers the week of interest (i.e. Date
Range filter) applied to the Resource Usage view might get what you
want. On the other hand, if Actual Work doesn't track with the schedule,
then a spare flag field (or equivalent) will probably be necessary to
identify those tasks of interest before applying the filter. Of course
this could be automated with VBA.

Hope this helps.

Thank you. That helped. One other question, I am having trouble changing the
working times. I have a master project file that contains numerous
sub-projects. Each of those sub-projects contain sub-projects as well. The
master project file as well as the sub-projects and sub-sub-projects all use
the same resource pool. When we had a few people work on Saturday, I changed
the working times in the master project file, the resource pool, the
sub-project, and the sub-sub-projects to make that Saturday a working day.
However, once I am done and save the master file, it basically reverts back
to the default and erases all the changes I made.
Do you have any ideas as to why it is doing that? The only thing I can think
of is that since I didn't change the working times for the rest of the
sub-projects and sub-sub-projects, it is not allowing that change. Thank you
in advance.

Suliman,
First of all, you're welcome.

You said that you changed the working time on each of the files but you
only mentioned saving the master. Be advised that the master does not
actually contain each of the subprojects (the same holds true of
subprojects within other subprojects). A file, or files, that is/are
dynamically (the default) inserted into another file only contain a
pointer to the inserted file. Therefore to effect changes for working
time you need to save those changes at each of the individual file
levels. I don't know if this is the problem, but try that and see what
happens.

Hi Suliman,

Pardon me for jumping in, but I think the problem that you are seeing
changing the working time for resources may come from the pool file. Usually
when sharing resources from a resource pool file, the option "On conflict
with calendar or resource information" defaults to "Pool takes precedence."
If that option was selected and you change the calendars for resources in a
sharer file, the change will not stay. The change needs to be made in the
pool file.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie
