How can I get the cursor to allow me to type next to an object?

(I'm using Word 2002)

I've inserted a diagram of a chess position in the left-hand column of a
document. I was hoping to type text to the right of the chessboard, but the
cursor goes down to the line below the diagram, wasting all the space to the
right.
How can I control where the cursor types relative to the diagram? I don't
want a text box; I want to type a page normally, on all sides of the
chessboard potentially.

Thanks,
Bart

Hi Baffled Bart,

Select the diagram, and choose Format | <the lowest item on the menu,
probably 'AutoShape...' or 'Picture...'>
On the Layout tab, you can define how your text will flow around your
diagram (Wrapping style).

Good luck,
Cooz
