Version: 2008

Could you guide me the way I can receive the product key? I purchesed the office:mac 2008 for home & student edition, and put the CD-rom into the new mac book today, but cannot figure out the product key. This is the very first time for me to use mac computer, so I'm very nervous...
Thank you in advance.

The Product ID is generated by Office after you enter the CD key
correctly.

The CD key is found on a sticker on the disk sleeve. It has the form

XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

and there should be three of them for the H&S edition.

Enter one on your machine when asked.

If you're ever asked for the Product ID, you can find it in any Office
application by choosing "About <application>..." from the application
menu (e.g., Word, Excel, etc).

The Product ID is also 25 characters, but has a different form:

XXXXX-XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXX

When you install you need your CD Key (usually found on the box). The
Product ID (a product ID will look like this: 11111-130-0001111-12345) is
used to register. This key is shown during the setup process. You can take a
screen shot of this, but it's practically worthless.

"Registration" has nothing to do with the operation of the software - unlike
the Activation required for MS Windows software. It's little more than a
marketing tool. It will put you on a Microsoft email list. You can sign up
for the newsletter without registering.

Cheers and Welcome to Mac! I have a few tips and links posted to help new
