How can I get Visio to retain undo levels after autorecover save?

When Visio 2003 SP3 saves autorecover information, it seems to lose its
undo/redo history so that you cannot undo recent actions. Is it possible to
get Visio to retain the history when it autosaves?

Visio does not have good support for undo across save operations. Things
are a little better in Visio 2007 but there are still situations where the
undo queue is emptied.
