HOW CAN I HIDE THE ADDRESSES IN DISPLAY BAR WHEN MOUSE IS ON A LINK??

M

Marcello do Guzman

I have a website with several links. I do not want to show the domain
address information that appears in the status bar down at the bottom
when the mouse pointer is over a link. Is there some VBA code to do
this? If so, can you provide and let me know where I can place it.
Thanks in advance.

Google for "javascript status bar message" or "hide status bar text"

However fwiw, I have a tendency to not click links that won't display in
the status bar,
and usually close the page / leave the site.

I agree with Steve's practice.

If I can't see an address in my status bar, I *always* avoid going there. I
learned to do this the hard way, after responding to what turned out to be
phishing emails from phony folks pretending to be "ebay" or "paypal" or
"amazon", 'conveniently' providing links in the body of the email to their
site go update my account, and the links themselves appear correct within
the text of the email, but on hovering over them, the status bar shows a
different address altogether.

Maybe you have a legitimate reason for not wanting the address to show in
the status bar, but I'd at least consider psychotic, neurotic folks like me
when you decide to make it invisible.

Good point. People with something to hide are generally trying to deceive.
At least that is the impression they create.
