How can I install IIS 4.0 in Windows XP Pro

J

Jerry McKinney

MS Word has quit working. When I try to re-install Office 2000 from the CD I
get a prompt saying I have to load IIS 4.0 before proceeding. What should I
do? I've tried re-installing XP but am told my current version is newer than
the one on the CD and I cannot install over it.

Internet Information Server 4.0 (IIS 4.0) is a Windows XP Professional
component - not an Office component. Although FrontPage may use the
server extensions.

Are you sure you are running Windows XP Professional or is it Windows
XP Home? In either case you may want to try a Windows XP or FrontPage
newsgroup.

As for your problem in Word, what errors, if any, are you
encountering? Seldom does reinstalling resolve Word application
errors. If you are encountering issues starting Word then take a look
at this troubleshooting guide:
