How can I know which is the currentitem if I don´t have Inspectors?

I´m trying to develop a VB macro which take some actions on the
currentitem, but I´m not able to retrieve which is the currentitem. I
tried with ActiveInspector.CurrentItem, but Outlook says that there
isn´t any Inspector. What can I do?
