I type rather quickly, but not necessarily accurately. I'm not sure if
that makes me a good or a bad typist!
I usually know when I'm
pressing (or when I'm about to press) the wrong key, but I can't stop it
from happening... It's a peculiar phenomenon. Anyway, I certainly
wouldn't manage without access to the Backspace key.

Thank you! I too am a terrible typist but that doesn't mean that I am a
perfect typist. Sometimes my hands can't keep up with my brain. When that
happens, the backspace key comes in handy.

Before we get too embroiled in *how* to do this, you might want to
consider
*why* you're trying to do it. I understand your motivation, but,
realistically, unless the students are going to be using conventional
typewriters rather than electronic keyboards, disabling backspacing is
rather pointless. Accuracy in typing is paramount when laying down ink on
a
page but becomes much less of an issue when the text is written in
electrons. I'm a *terrible* typist but can produce quite accurate text on
a
computer keyboard because I can back up and make corrections quickly as I
type.
