How can I make a cocept map?

Hello Tomek,

I would just use the File / New / Flowcharts / Basic Flowchart. There's a
shape in there called "Auto-height box" that automatically changes its
height based on the amount of text in the box.

You could also try the "Flowchart Shapes" shape that gives you a right-click
option to change the shape to one of four shapes. Although this is more
flexible, perhaps allowing you to visually group your sub-shape types, it
doesn't have the flexible text behaviour built in, but you could add this by
taking a look at this blog post over here:

http://blogs.msdn.com/visio/archive/2006/08/15/694710.aspx

So that's the shapes, now you need to connect them up. For this click on
the Connector Tool the top toolbar and then hover the mouse over the centre
of the shape that you want to connect from until you see a red rectangle
appear around its entire area. With the red rectangle visible, click and
drag over to the centre of the shape you want to connect to until you see a
similar rectangle, then release the mouse button. The default arrangement
for these connectors is a Right-angle shape, so right-click your new
connector and select the 'Straight Connector' option.

To ensure that all subsequent connectors are straight you'll need to change
the connector's Master shape in the Document stencil. So:

1) Select File / Shapes / Show Document Stencil

2) Double click the 'Dynamic connector' shape to open it for editting

3) Right-click the shape when it opens in the editting window to the right
and again select the Straight option.

4) Close the editting window and click Yes to the "Update 'Dynamic
connector' and all of its instances?"

All of the above will create a dynamic connector enabling you to move the
individual shapes and have the connectors stay connected. To add text to
the connectors, just select the connector and start typing.

Hope that helps.

Best regards

John
