How can I make kubuntu's word processor documents readable in Word

I'm a networking assistant for Western Michigan University. At work we use a
Linux based OS called kubuntu, which came from ubuntu. I didn't have time to
complete an important document, so I emailed it to myself so I could finish
it at home. I use Windows at home; and when I try to open the document it
cannot translate it properly! Please give me any suggestions!------the
document is due 10-30-06
