how can i make my document readable. all options fail.

I scanned my ged transcript to my computer, but word wont make it readable.I
just get pages of gibberish no matter what format I put it in.

A scan is just a picture of the scanned document, and Word can only insert
pictures, not edit them. You need optical character recognition (OCR) software
to "read" the picture and create text that you can open in Word.

Some OCR program might have been bundled with your scanner, or you can install
Microsoft Document Imaging from the Office CD.
