How can I make SmartArt span more than one page?

I have an extremely large organization chart which was most easily developed
in Word 2007 using SmartArt tools (I would have developed it in Publisher
2007, but the SmartArt toolset isn't available there).

However, if I try to fit it on one page the text will be far too small to be
legible. I'd like to extend it across several pages (similar to a banner) so
it can be printed effectively. Whenever I try to add an additional page,
Word simply cuts off the rest of the SmartArt. Is there any method to extend
it properly in Word?

No - objects cannot span a page break.

Your only options (AFAIK) are:

1- Create the chart as 2 (or more) separate objects, or

2- Use a custom paper size that will accommodate the chart. If you can't
print directly to that size paper, however, it gets a bit messy trying to
patch the pieces together after printing even if accurate pre-planning goes
into the design of the doc.
