how can i manage the number of messages received

i am using outlook for gmail. i already have more than 1200 messages in the
gmnail inbox. I dont want to delete those messeges from server, but at a time
i receive messages i receive only about 200 messages and when i receive next
time , those mails which have been already received are also received, i have
set up my gmail account to "archieve the mail after receiving", now what can
i do to get out the trouble of duplicating message? I need your kind help
