How Can I merge data to both sides of a tent publication?

Hi all,

The database is acess 2003, publisher is 2003. When I try catalog merge,
there is a merge area. I need either to have more than one merge area,
or the merge area to cover both the front and back side of a tent
publication.

Thanks for any help..

You need two identical fields in your Access database. Column A and Column B should
have the same values (names), when you insert into your merge area, the front merge
will have an "a" and the back a "b."

Thanks Mary,

but: I want to print CustID on the front, and CustTotal on the back of
the tent publivation.

Why do I need two identical fields? And please can you write me the
syntax of front merge having "a" and the back merge having "b".

BTW, I could have only one merge area, where is the front merge and
where is the back merge?

I was thinking of tent cards that identify folks at a table setting. Yours is a
different situation. My mind clouds up now and then.
It still is the same idea however.
In Access, field #one if you like, will have your CustID and field #two will have
CustTotal.

The merge field on the front of your tent card you will input the data in field #one
and on the back the data from field #two.

This won't, however, work with a catalog merge (which creates the "merge
area" I believe was mentioned in the first post), which seems to be what the
OP wants to use (judging from the desire to merge pictures mentioned in the
other thread - unless these are two separate merge projects).

I was assuming he was using the mail and catalog wizard. This post wanted a tent
card, which is not a catalog type merge.
I didn't realize the two inquiries were related. You took good care of the first
inquiry. Maybe they are two different projects.
You can setup a tent card using the catalog merge as long as he does what you
suggested with the images.

Hello,

Both are actually the same project.

The tent card is going to be used for display of items. On the front
there will be our company logo, the ID of the product like "Ko05A00101",
and the image of the product.

On the other side, there will be the details of the product from a note
field from the database.

With the tent card, I could not find a way to extend the merge area to
both the front and the back of the tent.

I am very new with publisher and db connection, so I need help.

You will need to create two publications.

Set up a Catalog Merge in each one, with the catalog merge area set to fill
the entire page.

Then merge to two new publications.

Print one of these, then turn the paper stack over (how you do this and in
what order the pages must be re-inserted depends on your model of printer),
and then print the second publication on the reverse side.

Is this peculiar to the tent publication?

No, it is peculiar to the Catalog Merge. If you did not want to merge
pictures, you could create a two-page publication with mail merge and use
that. As you want pictures, you need to use the Catalog Merge, which does
not support two-page merge areas.

OK!

Thanks anyhow.

Just FYI: To overcome, I used a single page, turned what I wanted to
print on the backside upside down, and voila.. I have the tent already.
