How can I open Lotus 1-2-3 files (*.wk?) in Excel 2007?

When opening files in Excel 2003, there was an option to open Lotus 1-2-3
files (*.wk?). I have upgraded to Excel 2007 and no longer see that option;
nor can I open Lotus 1-2-3 files. Did Miocrosoft remove this capability from
Excel 2007?

This is a discontinued feature. No, I am not aware of any workaround or any
plans by anybody to develop one. Yes, this question is frequently asked in
these newsgroups. No, I don't know why MSFT decided to do this. Yes, it
seems stupid.

Yes, Microsoft removed this functionality from Excel 2007, but they
left in the options for [Lotus] transition navigation keys, transition
formula evaluation and transition formula entry.

Which would be more useful to ex-123 users, the ability to open
old .WK? files but use Excel UI to work with them or no ability to
open old .WK? files but the ability to use a 123 Release 2.01-like UI
with non-.WK? files? A no-brainer which feature Microsoft dropped.
